Most of the popular St. Patty's day celebrations are happening during the weekend. Translation: This year you can avoid that awkward moment when you wander into the office after taking a personal day off on one of the biggest party days of the year.

Pull out your kilt and join in on the festivities.. Here is a list of the most popular things to do for St. Patty's Day this year:

Saturday, March 15- 6:00 pm. Pre-Parade Party featuring Polish and Irish music, dancers, food, wine & domestic beer. Cash bar. $25 per person. Located within The American Polish Century Club at 33204 Maple Lane in Sterling Heights (14 mile & Hoover).

Sunday, March 16- 12:00 pm. 56th Annual Detroit St. Patrick's Parade. The parade includes marching & pipe bands, clowns, and floats. Corktown, 6th street and Michigan Ave.

Sunday, March 16- Kona St. Patrick's Day Run. 10k Run at 7:30 AM, Hard Rock Mile at 8:00 AM, and 5K Run/ Walk at 9:00 AM. Rock n Roll music themed fun race with live music in historic downtown Plymouth.
